2/2/2007 1:58:39 PM You Tube vs Viacomm | YouTube, now owned by google continues to dominate the world of video. In the future as cell phones are able to make high quality videos its use will grow. But Viacomm is trying to demand that YouTube to remove more than 100,000 videos that are from its broadcasts. See Full Article here I don't know about you all, but I like the fact that I can find just about any clip anytime on Youtube. My Brother told me about Bill Gates going on the Daily Show and I was able to easily find the clip on Youtube. Viacom controls what I like to call the oldschool media outlets. Mainily TV and Thousands of radio stations. Both of these media outlets have been struggling to compete against the tastes of today's consumer. But of course they did it to themself. Who really wants to listen to the radio when it consists of 45 minutes of advertisments per hour. Recenltly I have noticed TV shows have been running more commercials than usual too. After all I have an MP3 player that plays what I want to hear and when I want to hear it. The other side of the story is TV and Radio are outlets with a very unknown listerner base. They don't truely know how many people watched their programming. There is no system that tracks what we watch and when. TV and Radio supposively Poll to figure out how many people watched. But I have never recieved a call asking what I have been watching. Websites such as YouTube are different. Servers store information about what you looked at, when, how many times, and by geolocating your IP address they can even tell where you live if you are on a broadband connection. This type of information can help better target advertisements to the appropriate consumer. Consumers are sick of being force fed advertisements, they want to buy what they want when they want it. YouTube is a Business Model that was grown from Pure Word of Mouth. This is the most power form of advertising for any business, including this sites. So Tell your Friends!! : ) It will be interesting to see what YouTube and its owner Google do about the copyright issue at hand.
